The iconic Buda Castle, known by many as the Royal Palace, stands tall and proud above the city of Budapest. Its regal presence has made it one of the most recognized symbols of the capital and of Hungary. The castle complex is home to three important institutions: the National Széchényi Library, the Budapest History Museum, and the Hungarian National Gallery.
Sitting atop Castle Hill, the Buda Castle offers a breathtaking view of Pest and the river below. Its imposing structure commands attention and admiration from all who lay eyes on it.
How to Reach Buda Castle
There are multiple ways to reach this magnificent landmark. The first option is to climb up steep stairs from Clark Adam Square at the Chain Bridge. Another option is to take a leisurely walk up the hill via a path that begins at the Funicular.
Speaking of which, taking the Buda Hill Funicular is another popular way to reach the castle. For a fee of 4,000 Ft (equivalent to US$ 11), visitors can enjoy a scenic ride up to the castle between 8 am and 10 pm.
For those who wish to experience both modes of transportation, we recommend taking the Funicular up to the Royal Palace and then strolling back down. The walk down offers a delightful opportunity to take in more of the exquisite surroundings without exerting too.
